Ryman launches vouchers scheme offering over £500k worth of stationery vouchers for schools

Ryman, the UK’s leading stationery and office supplier, has launched their new Vouchers for Classrooms initiative. The scheme gives parents and families the opportunity to raise over £500 thousand pounds of vouchers for schools in their local area to spend on classroom supplies and stationery essentials.

Running until 21st September, for every £5 a customer spends in a Ryman store, they will receive a voucher for 50p. The more a customer spends, the more vouchers they receive. These vouchers can then be handed in to schools at the beginning of the new term to be redeemed by school staff across any of the 204 Ryman stores nationwide.

A recent study by NASUWT – The Teachers Union highlighted the funding pressures schools are under, with teachers increasingly having to fund basic resources out of their own pocket. Over 64% of teachers said they had bought paper or stationery for the classroom using their own money. This campaign offers the chance for communities to support their local schools and teachers by giving something a little extra back.

Ryman Chairman and Owner, Theo Paphitis said: “Ryman’s Vouchers for Classrooms campaign is really important, as we know just how difficult it is for schools to balance their budgets, and every year they have more requirements to meet. The scheme is a great way for the school’s friends and families to get together and help boost their school’s purchasing powers, so they can buy those much-needed supplies.”

Ryman has teamed up with Matthew Burton of Channel 4’s Educating Yorkshire and Headteacher of Thornhill Community Academy to promote the initiative. He said: “The Ryman Vouchers for Classrooms initiative is a fantastic way of showing your support for schools and all of the people working in education who make a huge difference to young people’s lives every day.

“School budgets are getting tighter and tighter and this campaign is a brilliant way to help schools raise some extra funds to help to resource their schools and classrooms, helping to create more vibrant and engaging learning environments.”
