Pupil Interest Declines, Staff Support Improves: Edurio’s Findings

Edurio, a leading provider of staff, pupil, and parent feedback surveys, has recently released the “High-Quality and Inclusive Education 2024” report, which includes insights from over 245,000 staff, teachers, and parents. The report analyses trends from 2023/24 in pupil engagement, staff support, and parental satisfaction, along with recommendations from Dame Alison Peacock.

Positive Trends:

  • Pupils: 33% report being asked to read for studies, up 3% from last year.
  • Staff: 52% feel well supported in lesson preparation, up 3% from last year and the highest rate in six years. Support in other areas has grown too.
  • Parents: 59% are satisfied with communication from the school, a 4% increase from last year, though still below pre-pandemic levels.

Concerning Trends:

  • Pupils: Only 28% find learning interesting, a 3% drop from last year and a 14% decrease over the past four years.
  • Staff: Only 68% feel respected by pupils, a 3% decline from last year.
  • Parents: Whilst many elements are more positive than last year, it’s unclear if these are temporary improvements or a longer-term upward trend.
