Following the General Election on 8 June, Her Majesty the Queen delivered her speech at the State Opening of Parliament on 21 June.

The speech included the government’s commitment to ensuring that “all schools are fairly funded” and that all children have the skills to find employment in the future.

Experts have predicted that the policies to lift the ban on new grammar schools and to scrap free school lunches for all infants will be abandoned.

Please find our summary of the Queen’s Speech below.

The Commons debate on Education will take place on Monday 27 June.
