We are the voice of UK education suppliers.
For almost a century, we’ve been supporting schools and our members by representing, championing and developing the UK education suppliers’ sector. Today, we help and advise educational suppliers of every size, from recent start-ups to multi-national groups.

We are trusted partners and expert advisors.
Everything we do is designed to build the reputation and impact of the UK educational suppliers industry. Today that’s a £multi-billion sector that spans diverse classroom products, from stationery to software. Our members make up over 80% of the total market spend, giving us a clear mandate with policy-makers. In turn, we channel this influence on behalf of suppliers and schools.
Our standing as a members’ association is reflected in our industry leadership and history of firsts. With the Department of Business and Trade (DBT), we take over 100 companies to important export markets every year. We run the EdTech Exchange, Europe’s largest network of EdTech founders as well as the LendED EdTech lending initiate. Plus, we founded what is now the Bett Show in 1985, the Education Show in 1991, GESS Dubai in 2007 and the Education World Forum in 2011.
How we’re structured
BESA Secretariat
Our focus is making sure the sector is heard where it counts and finding successful domestic and international routes to market for UK education suppliers. We’re a small, dedicated team.
Executive Council
We’re governed by an Executive Council of elected representatives that reflect the breadth of our membership. Their profiles show they’re drawn from organisations of different sizes and product categories.
Governance
BESA is governed by a set of policies and guidelines that inform our actions and contributions.
